Welcome back me. Wow, has it really been that long? My last entry was in August, and this was supposed to be a more routine thing.
A lot has happened in the past 2 months, but I’ll try to keep it as short as possible.
Let’s begin with how my personal trainer and lifestyle changes are going. This past weekend was the ultimate test for anyone that’s trying to watch what they eat and stay on course with an exercise program but somehow (gasp!) I managed to make it through the weekend, not sacrifice too much, and still somehow lose a pound! What are the odds of that happening? My last session with my personal trainer was last Wednesday, but then on Friday I went swimming with Tom at the gym, and Saturday we went to see Cascada perform at LUXY NightClub, and danced the night away. So, yay for exercise! I managed to try everything at the Thanksgiving dinner table on Sunday. The only thing I didn’t eat were the potatoes ‘cause they’re boring anyway. I even had cake, but I limited myself to one piece and more fruit. I’m comparing this to how I ate before, which is that I would have one of every kind of cake on the table. On Sunday we had Chinese food for Tom’s mom’s B-Day and I stuck to mostly veggies and not all the fried stuff so that went ok as well. I’m proud to say that at 192lbs I’m 2 pounds away from halfway to my goal weight. It gets tough sometimes to stick to the program, but the more you lose the better you feel and you just keep going. The people that don’t see you as often (ie. dentist, hairdresser, etc) notice it the most and it feels really good when they tell you, “You look great!”
Another thing I feel great about is my job. I’m at JAM Direct as a junior writer, and actually getting paid! So far I’ve worked on BELL and HBC briefs. We do direct mail and customer relations mail. Today, I felt like it was my B-Day. I got a new Macbook, monitor, wireless keyboard and mouse, my own desk, company logo waterbottle, and an eco-friendly bag!
Life in general is pretty sweet currently. There have been a few ups and downs, such as Tom’s dad being hospitalized and a couple overseas deaths in the family, but we got through it together. And the thing that impacted me the most was the death of my beloved dog, Jerry, who passed away this past Labour Day Weekend. Jerry was around even before Kuba (my lil’ bro) was born and he was an important and loved member of our family. He will be dearly missed.
So that’s about it for the recap, and just to end things off, here are a few cool websites and products I’ve been into recently:
http://www.hungry-girl.com/ (Awesome website for real life eating, includes what the best choices are at your favourite fast food joints, as well as great recipes!)
http://meandgoji.com/ (Make your own cereal, and name it too!)
http://www.goshcosmetics.com/ (I love the extreme art eye liner!!! It stays put all night long when you’re out clubbing!)
www.eyeslipsface.com (Great makeup for a great price!)
So I found this while surfin’ the net today and I thought I would pass it along ’cause it’s so true. I hope you guys enjoy it.
Here’s something that a six-year-old kid said after watching his beloved family pet being put down.
“People are born so that they can learn how to live a good Life –like loving everybody all the time and being nice, right?”
The six-year-old continued, “Well, dogs already know how to do that, so they don’t have to stay as long.”
Smart kid.
Things you can learn from a dog:
When loved ones come home, always run to greet them.
Never pass up the opportunity to go for a joyride.
Allow the experience of fresh air and the wind in your face to be pure ecstasy.
Take naps.
Stretch before rising.
Run, romp, and play daily.
Thrive on attention and let people touch you.
Avoid biting when a simple growl will do.
On warm days, stop to lie on your back on the grass.
On hot days, drink lots of water and lie under a shady tree.
When you’re happy, dance around and wag your entire body.
Never pretend to be something you’re not.
If what you want lies buried, dig until you find it.
When someone is having a bad day, be silent, sit close by and nuzzle them gently.
…something to think about…
If you’ve been at the Younge/Bloor subway station recently you’ve probably noticed that it’s covered in peanut butter…ads that is. They’re a series of ads for Kraft Peanut Butter that are part of a campaign to donate 10, 000 jars of peanut butter to the Toronto food bank, by either hugging a Kraft Peanut Butter bear (Smoothie and Crunchy) at the Ontario Place event, or sending a hug online at the website (which is now disabled). The tagline is “Spread the Feeling” and the visual is a piece of bread with peanut butter on it, and each ad features something different drawn in the peanut butter. One has a peace sign, one has a heart, one has a smiley face. The ads are really cute! The event is now over and I’m kinda sad I missed it ‘cause I wanted to hug Smoothie and Crunchy too!
I’ll try to take some pics of the ads and put them up ‘cause I can’t seem to find any visuals online…
Recently there have been many changes in my life. I finished school (finally!), got an internship to (hopefully) begin my career as a copywriter, and decided to try my best to live a healthier life. So far, I’ve been doing well. Ever since I started exercising and paying more attention to what I put in my body I’ve felt a lot better and I think I’m happier as a whole. Hence the reason for starting up this blog. Besides just putting in my dose of ramblings, I hope to use this as a space to keep up on my progress, as well as post some tips and suggestions, to possibly inspire others out there to take little steps to help them feel better about themselves. But, like I said, I’m still gonna ramble, so expect to see posts about anything and everything from what I ate for breakfast to what advertisements I like at the moment (Hint: It’s never EVER Koodoo!). Welcome to Kasia’s Skribbles. Enjoy!
So here goes my first post.
It’s Friday, and I’m leaving work in about half an hour. Work for me is at Capital C, which is an advertising and marketing agency in downtown T.O. So far my experience has been super positive. I get to work with some very talented creative people in a laid back environment that lets you get things done how you want as long as they get done.
One thing I’ve discovered in the last couple of weeks though is that my work and my new live healthy lifestyle don’t necessarily mix well. One of our clients just happens to be Frito-Lay. Basically, I’m surrounded by piles of Doritos and mountains of Pepsi. So not cool. Although, I’ve been doing a great job of staying away from all the junk, by always carrying the secret weapon of all diets around with me everywhere. That secret weapon is a bag of almonds. So that’s Tip#1 for anyone that needs it.
